The following subtopics highlight Utah's efforts toward the supply and expansion of broadband internet service inside the state. Starting in 2018, the Utah Broadband Project aims to 2020 have 90% of all households and businesses in the state of Utah have high-speed internet connections. Funding has been drawn in great numbers from expanding fiber and other high-speed networks to formerly without internet access locations. By the year 2022, the studies show that between 80% to 85% of Utah's population is predicted to have access to a broadband connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload. The cooperation of state and local governments, ISPs, and nonprofit groups including but not limited to Utopia Fiber which helps to create open-access fiber networks accounts for this significant improvement. Some of the rural electric co-ops in the nation have also worked to expand on their current offering, which is power, thereby bringing internet to their local communities. As we will see, although many communities in the rural regions only have one or two ISPs delivering broadband, the reader may have numerous options for Internet service providers or ISPs in the metropolitan centers of Utah. Therefore, the process of eradicating the digital gap is still under development, but the outcomes show the contribution to increasing Internet availability throughout the state. The plans call for further development to very tiny villages and more competition and speed all over Utah.
