Radio Link Internet

RLI stands for Radio Link Internet which is a mode of internet connectivity delivered through radio transmission. It offers internet connection over broadband in areas where it would be costly or too challenging to lay extensive physical structures such as cables or fibers. The way RLI functions is that a main ‘base’ station is installed and equipped with a high-output wireless transceiver. This is a wireless internet transmitter that can create a coverage area of several kilometers around the transmitter. Customers in this coverage area can only get the wireless signal with a receiver antenna pointing to the modem this modem is connected to a computer or router to access the internet. Based on the main goal of RLI, the first and foremost impact is the ability to connect the regions that do not have wired facilities. It enables customers in those areas to have access to an internet connection speed that is similar to that offered by wired broadband. The disadvantage is that the signals may be hindered by heavy rain or dense foliage, many users may share a single bandwidth and therefore the speed will be slower than normal when many users are connected at the same time, and the laying down of the initial infrastructure may be costly. But in Wireless technology currently, many enhancements are being made to make the transmission more reliable and faster. In general, radio link internet is useful to prevent the digital divide since it brings internet even in areas with limited available and expensive wired connection. This is especially crucial in contributing towards the endeavor of extending Internet access more internationally.
