Nexstream

Nexstream Internet is a company that is involved in the provision of internet services to the public, particularly in the Midwest region. Nexstream was started in 2005 by a group of telecom engineers, and the core idea of the establishment is to deliver high-speed internet service to rural areas at a cheaper rate. The wireline monopoly of communicating signals through cables is eliminated by Nexstream, which communicates through fixed wireless towers with a coverage area of up to 30 miles. This enables them to provide their subscribers with up to 50 Mbps while avoiding the cost of installing fiber optics beneath the ground. Such service offerings and prices are deliberately still affordable for rural users, in contrast to large national ISPs. With PMP wireless technology, Nexstream can economically provide broadband connectivity to rural areas with a concentrated number of people. These have been done in partnership with regional electric co-ops and local governments and currently operate in over fifty counties so far. Nexstream has received funds from the FCC and other state-funded programs and aims to expand its wireless network further to reach those rural areas where a quality internet connection is still a luxury. They aim to deliver relevant connectivity today to support the sustainability and relevancy of rural society and the economy.
