East Texas Broadband Internet or ETBI is a regional Internet Service Provider with a mission to provide fast, reliable, and affordable Internet services to rural populations in the areas of East Texas. Originally established in Longview, Texas, in 2019, ETBI’s inception is rooted in a vision that was initiated by a group of local businesspeople who recognized the urge to take the quality of broadband services in the region up a notch. ETBI has laid down more than a dozen counties of East Texas through state and federal grants that gave it the means to set up a high-speed fiber-optic network in a short time. On average, download speeds provided by ETBI range from 90Mbps to a whopping 1Gbps, which is rare for providers in regions outside the urban centers. Other plans available are internet-only plans starting from $40 per month and the package deals; with the internet, TV, and phone. Thus, a central focus of the company has been to target neglected groups and communities. It has also worked with schools, libraries, local governments, and other institutions to add to the reach of households across East Texas. Contained within the ETBI package is also low-cost internet for needy families and elderly on fixed incomes. Being a company based in Texas, ETBI is playing its role in the provision of broadband services to Texas specifically rural areas.
