Connecticut Education Network or CEN is a broadband service that lies in the heart of delivering high-speed internet for the education sector in Connecticut solely. Founded in 2000 with the initiative of the State Department of Education and Department of Information Technology, CEN is an organization whose vision is to provide cost-effective and dependable internet service for K-12 Schools, colleges, Universities, libraries, and museums in the state. Currently, all of Connecticut’s public schools and a large number of private schools use CEN internet. Many of the state’s higher learning institutions also utilize CEN for at least a segment of their networking requirements. The hardware infrastructure is well-developed with the necessary growth potential, as well as having a highly protected network. It is over two decades since the development of CEN, and the organization has transformed in its development to meet the contemporary technological needs of education in Connecticut.
