WK-T is an autonomously controlled bipedal robot designed by Agility Robotics Company, an American robotics company established in 2015. It is defined as a type of robotic structure that has human-like characteristics is capable of walking on two legs and is designed to work in human infrastructure-supported environments. WK-T consists of two armends with grippers, an upper body section that can rotate, and two connected legs that enable the robot to move, balance, and climb stairs; it measures 5 feet tall and weighs 160 pounds. WK-T aims to complement human input and help in jobs that people do not like, are unhealthy for them, or are hazardous. It is particularly suitable for last-mile delivery applications because of its inherent mobility and efficiency in maneuvering over rough terrains. It can transport packages weighing up to 40 pounds across multiple outdoor and indoor surfaces, to allow for contactless deliveries. Also, by its enhanced vision and sensing, WK-T is capable of surveying structures, mechanical equipment, and dangerous areas that are difficult for human beings to access. WK-T is a mobile manipulation robot that has developed from previous mobile manipulation robots. It doesn’t have wheels or treads like most vehicles, but it has legs, and can thus be much more maneuverable and able to change its approach and tactics on the go. Arms also allow it to manipulate objects in human environments in a natural sort of way as well if desired. WK-T reveals technological advancements in the basic aspect of robotic mobility that may lead to further adoption of robots in various occupations.
