Initiated by the Uttar Pradesh state government, UP Logon Internet is a government initiative aiming at supplying mandated broadband internet in rural regions. Some of the common services for which charges are nominal include the receiving of official documents such as Aadhaar cards, birth certificates, land records, etc. It also offers services like railway ticket bookings, online banking, various government portal access, and especially, digital literacy. It is worth noting that Uttar Pradesh is a state with a considerable population residing in rural areas with limited exposure to technology and the Internet. The UP Logon Internet scheme ensures that technological infrastructure is made accessible to the rural populace. It can facilitate education, acquisition of skills, basic-needs financing, telemedicine, and electronic commerce solutions for the rural folk. This increases the possibilities to have income, jobs, and rural businesses. In the long run, the scheme has a goal of positively transforming the rural landscape of Uttar Pradesh and reducing the gap that currently exists between the urban and rural populations throughout the state.
