The fixed wireless Internet Service Provider under consideration in this study is NCATS Internet based in North Carolina. Conceived in 2005, NCATS offers broadband to areas of less population density and has been instrumental in delivering internet connection to these regions. Through the use of wireless technologies such as WiMAX and LTE, NCATS constructs networks to provide fast, efficient interconnection with high internet speeds of up to 100Mbps to homes and businesses. It serves consumers domiciled in residential areas as well as commercial places for instance farming practices, learning institutions, hospitals, etc. Unlike most conventional ISPs that rely on the fiber or cable that might be costly to install especially in rural areas, NCATS uses point-to-point wireless transmission which enables them to cover bigger areas in a shorter time and an affordable way. Their networks can stretch up to 20 miles or more from transmitters positioned on some tall structures such as water tanks, or even mountain slopes. Besides, to meet the need to eliminate the digital divide, NCATS is also involved in partnership in acquiring state and federal grants to finance connections in low-income counties and offer affordable prices. As a means of supporting the growth of various aspects in small-town North Carolina, NCATS Internet invests in rural broadband infrastructure. They have adopted localized strategies and the best customer service and they are now among the leading WISPs in the state.
