Montana Internet Corporation (MTN) is a broadband internet service provider that has been formed mainly to offer internet services to the rural and remote areas of Montana. MTN was started in 1996 with the mission of affording cheap, reliable high-speed internet connection and this company targets the areas with no access to national providers. The wireless technologies that MTN uses include the WiMAX networks; probably the large firms cannot invest in MTN because they cannot penetrate the rural areas of Montana that have few people. They provide home and commercial Internet service packages with a download capability of 20Mbps and an upload capacity of 4Mbps. As can be seen, MTN targets to offer the services at slightly higher rates than those of the urban Services and at a slightly cheaper rate than that offered by the satellite internet to the rural users. They also help support local economic development by providing modern internet for Montana businesses, schools, hospitals, and many others such as the one represented in the video. Since MTN is a Montana-based homegrown company located in Butte, Montana, it asserts that it has a better understanding of the geographical characteristics that make it possible to deliver broadband to the many hard-to-reach rural areas in Montana. These services help facilitate work from home, online classes, and telehealth as well as many other things for thousands of Montanans. As it continues to expand, MTN plans on, and rightly so, narrowing the rural-urban digital divide within Montana through novel wireless networks.
