G5 Internet is the new generation of wireless internet networking that provides high speed and less delay in comparison to G4 such as 4G LTE. With G5, download speeds will reach its ultimate potential of up to 20 Gigabits per second which in turn will enable the near simultaneous loading of web pages and streaming of ultra high definition video content. The speed boosts of G5 Internet are made possible by using radio frequencies of higher frequency than those used in previous generations of Internet such as the millimeter wave frequencies. This availability of very wide wireless spectrum can send many more data than the old cellular systems. However, the trade-off is that such signals cannot reach far and their transmission is hindered by objects such as buildings and trees. To cover large areas with G5, cellular providers will require to use small cells, which comprise numerous compact sub-stations in heavily saturated large cities. However, the key enablers are expected to deliver faster home Internet and other cellular connections to support innovations as well as the advancement of new technologies in the future in numerous sectors such as self-driving automobiles, virtual reality/augmented reality, telehealth among others. For the majority of consumers, however, they would be able to eagerly await downloading movies in a matter of seconds, not minutes or hours. Although availability is not expected until at least 2025, G5 is poised to begin its rollout in several cities from 2023.
