The Eastern Shore of Virginia Broadband Authority (ESVBA) was created in 2008 with the mission to deliver internet connection for affordable prices to the inhabitants and companies of Virginia’s Eastern Shore region. Contractors and internet providers avoided substantial investments in the rural areas of the Eastern Shore for years due to the absence of broadband infrastructure. The ESVBA plan is set to close the digital gap by deploying a long-term fiber-optic broadband network that will provide up to 1Gb/s bandwidth speed. Over the past ten years, the ESVBA; as an independent public broadband authority; built almost 300 miles of fiber across the state; connecting thousands of homes, businesses, schools, hospitals, and government offices. They provide the following internet packages at quite reasonable prices with download and upload speeds as follows: 25 Mbps. ESVBA network has opened doors to several economic developments in the Eastern Shore as well as improving educational systems, telemedicine services, Agriculture, and Public Safety networks. Thus, the ESVBA plans to achieve its objective of bringing fiber internet to households and companies in Virginia’s Eastern Shore with the help of further network expansion projects.
